£2 million invested into brand new affordable homes

We’ve got some great news! As part of our Thrive Agenda we’re thrilled to announce that we have invested £2 million into six brand new homes in our local area.

These homes are allocated on an affordable rent basis to those most in need in our community and are thought to be a unique initiative in the country. The first homes have been handed over to Midlands based housing association group Platform Housing Group. The families are selected based on criteria set by Harborough District Council, including refugees from the Ukraine.

Our Chief Executive Iain Kirkpatrick joined local MP Alberto Costa MP for a tour of the first three homes in Lutterworth on Friday.

Iain said: “In a financial climate where the UK is facing a chronic shortage of affordable housing, we are proud to be in the position to, with the support of our members, use our financial reserves for essential community projects like this which reflect the founding principles of our sector.”

At MHBS, we believe that everyone should have a happy, safe and secure place to live. That’s why we have launched our affordable home scheme and we are proud that we can give back to our community.
