We’re proud to have awarded almost £50,000 to charities and Community Interest Companies (CICs) across our region through the latest round of our Community Fund.

Managed by Leicestershire and Rutland Community Foundation on our behalf, the fund was created to strengthen local support and help ensure people can access the services, guidance and opportunities they need to move forward with confidence.

Why helping our local community is important?

As a mutual, we believe local organisations understand the needs of their communities best. By supporting charities and CICs that are already making a difference, we’re helping ensure support is not only available, but meaningful and relevant to the people who need it most.
The organisations supported through this round of funding are responding to real challenges every day.

From food support and essential household items to wellbeing initiatives, family services and financial guidance, they provide practical help when it matters most.

Anna Asbury, Chief Lending Officer at Market Harborough Building Society, said:

“We’re proud to support organisations that are responding to real needs in our communities. They understand the challenges people are facing and provide support that makes a genuine difference.”

“This reflects who we are as a mutual. Through our Thrive Agenda, we’re committed to helping people and communities move forward with confidence, and it’s inspiring to see that purpose brought to life through the work these organisations do every day.”

Debs McCahon, Grants Manager at Leicestershire and Rutland Community Foundation, said:

“This funding is making a real difference to charities and CICs that sit at the heart of their communities. They understand local challenges and provide practical support to the people who need it most. We’re proud to work alongside the Society to make this possible.”

Successful organisations awarded funding include:

  • ROSEROL CIC
  • North Northants Sports and Welfare Club
  • Harborough Hygiene Bank
  • Home Start Kettering
  • Menphys
  • Helping Hands Community Trust
  • Voluntary Action South Leicestershire
  • Home Start South Leicestershire
  • Charity Link
  • The Well Kibworth
  • No Fuss Meals for Busy Parents CIC, The Countryside Kitchen
One of the organisations previously supported through the fund, Menphys, shared: “We are incredibly grateful to Market Harborough Building Society and Leicestershire and Rutland Community Foundation for awarding Menphys a further Community Fund grant. The continued support is greatly appreciated and will make a meaningful difference to the families we support.”

What is our Thrive Agenda?

The Community Fund forms part of our Thrive Agenda, which connects our success as a mutual to the success of the communities we serve. Whether through community funding, colleague volunteering, our Prize Draw or opening the doors of Newcombe House as a community hub, we are committed to creating lasting local impact.

Over the past three years, we have invested£1 million in local good causes, helping charities, community groups and organisations deliver meaningful support where it’s needed most.
