Colleagues Making a Difference
Colleague Impact is the backbone of Thrive. It’s the time, energy, and compassion our people invest in their communities. It’s mentoring, volunteering, fundraising, and simply showing up for others. It’s about creating space for purpose at work—and making sure that every colleague feels empowered to make a difference.
Recognition That Reflects Our Culture
In a year shaped by economic uncertainty and changing expectations in the workplace, we’re proud to share that we’ve once again been named one of the Sunday Times Best Places to Work for 2025.
This is the second year in a row we’ve received this recognition, and it means a great deal to us. It’s more than just an award — it’s a reflection of the culture we’ve built together, where our colleagues feel they belong, are supported, and are inspired to do their best work.
The Impact of Our Colleagues Beyond the Workplace
5,000+ Hours of Volunteering
Since 2023, MHBS colleagues have dedicated over 5,000 hours to causes they care about, far exceeding the industry average. From supporting food banks and youth services to lending skills to local projects, this commitment reflects the true spirit of Thrive: purpose lived out through action.
Every hour given strengthens our communities and demonstrates that when we work together, we create lasting change. It’s more than volunteering—it’s making a real difference where it matters most.
£2,000+ Raised and Doubled
Our colleagues have raised over £2,000 for local charities and thanks to our match funding programme, every pound has been doubled, turning generosity into even greater impact. This initiative means that when our people give, we give too, amplifying support for causes that matter most in our communities.
By matching colleague fundraising, we’re not just encouraging giving, we’re multiplying its power. It’s one of the many ways we live our purpose and ensure that every effort goes further to create meaningful, lasting change.
We love welcoming new colleagues into a diverse, inclusive workplace where you can be yourself and do your best work. As a mutual, we put customers and communities at the heart of everything we do and our people live by values that drive curiosity, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
We’re proud to be listed in the Sunday Times Best Places to Work 2025 and to have won multiple UK Employee Experience and Customer Service Awards, including Overall Winner for Best Culture Transformation. If you’re looking for a role where purpose meets progress, MHBS is the place to thrive.

What Our Colleagues Are Saying
“ When I joined MHBS, I didn’t realise how much we do for our members and communities. Today, I’m proud to work for a mutual that puts social purpose first through initiatives like Thrive; helping people and communities flourish.
Taking part in Thrive Forward, supporting young adults with life skills, has been a highlight for me. MHBS isn’t just a workplace; it’s a culture of collaboration and growth. I love working here
It’s different, and it’s great.”
Charlie Hilton

“I joined MHBS in 2018 and have always felt supported in my career development. Opportunities to progress are readily available, and when I moved to a flexible working pattern in 2024, MHBS made the transition smooth and encouraged wellbeing through benefits like BUPA and Medicash.
The culture here is inclusive and community-focused. Senior leaders are approachable, and we’re encouraged to share ideas and volunteer locally. MHBS’s commitment to excellence and its positive impact in the community make me proud to be part of the team.”
