Named a Sunday Times Best Place to Work for the third year running

For the third year running, we have been named one of The Sunday Times Best Places to Work, and we could not be prouder.

What makes this recognition especially meaningful is that it is based on honest feedback from our colleagues. It reflects something we work hard to create every day: a place where people feel valued, supported and connected to the difference they make.

At Market Harborough Building Society, our purpose is clear. We exist to fight for our customers and communities to thrive. That purpose shapes how we work, how we make decisions and how we support one another.

How we built our Thrive Culture?

Through our Thrive Agenda, colleagues across the Society are united by a shared goal of helping people move forward with confidence.
We believe people do their best work when they understand how their role contributes to something bigger. That is why we focus on creating a culture where colleagues feel trusted, empowered and proud of the impact they make.

Our commitment to community goes beyond the day job. In 2025 alone, our colleagues gave more than 2,400 hours of their time to support local causes and community organisations. It is a reflection of the mutual values that sit at the heart of who we are.

The impact of our people is felt by our customers too. We continue to achieve excellent ratings on Trustpilot and Feefo, demonstrating the consistently high levels of care, support and service our teams provide every day.

Lesley Vernon, Chief Engagement Officer, said:

“Our purpose is to fight for our customers and communities to thrive, and that is only possible because of our people. This recognition reflects a culture where colleagues feel trusted, empowered and able to see the difference they make every single day.”

Being a great place to work is not simply about recognition. It helps us attract talented people, support their growth and continue building strong, trusted relationships with our members, customers and communities.

As one of the largest employers in Market Harborough, we have grown our colleague numbers by more than 40% in under five years. It is a clear sign of our continued investment in people and our confidence in the future.
