WHEN YOU CAN'T BANK ON THE BANKS

YOU CAN BANK ON US!

New banking kiosk has opened in our Market Harborough branch

We are excited to announce that Market Harborough Building Society is bringing banking back to the high street this month (October) for hundreds of people who have seen their bank close in recent times.

Our new kiosk, situated in our branch at The Square, will provide local people and businesses with a range of important services that were lost after Barclays, NatWest, and HSBC all closed their branches in the town last year.

According to Which?*, high street banks in the UK have been closing at a rate of 53 a month since 2015.

This free service, provided by the Society and OneBanx, a Glory company, will allow customers of any bank to deposit and withdraw cash, including coins. Higher deposit values are available if customers link their accounts to the Open Banking service.

How does it help our community?

From a customer’s perspective, the OneBanx Kiosk is a game-changer for several reasons:

  1. Convenience: With the kiosk available on the high street, customers can easily access banking services without having to travel far. This is especially beneficial for those who may have difficulty reaching more distant bank branches.

  2. Accessibility: The kiosk provides essential banking services such as cash deposits and withdrawals, which are crucial for both individuals and local businesses. This is particularly important in areas where traditional bank branches have closed.

  3. Support: The presence of a dedicated team to assist customers ensures that everyone, regardless of their tech-savviness, can use the kiosk effectively. This personal touch can make a significant difference.

  4. Community Impact: The kiosk is part of the Society’s Thrive! Agenda, which aims to support and uplift the community. Knowing that their banking needs are being met by an organisation committed to their well-being can foster a sense of trust and loyalty among customers.

  5. Inclusivity: By offering services to customers of any bank, the OneBanx Kiosk promotes financial inclusivity. This means that even those who do not have accounts with the Society can benefit from the kiosk’s services.

Overall, the OneBanx Kiosk not only brings back essential banking services to the high street but also strengthens the community by making banking more accessible and supportive for everyone. If you haven’t tried it yet, visit the branch and experience the kiosk first hand could be a great way to see its benefits in action.

Our partnership with OneBanx

Iain Kirkpatrick, Chief executive from MHBS said, “We know our branches are invaluable to many customers – especially to local businesses which need to deposit takings and the more vulnerable members of society, so this is a significant step in helping people to manage their money and overcome the problems caused by the loss of traditional high street banking.

“We fully expect the kiosk to be in demand by all kinds of people and we are very proud that we are the first organisation in the entire Midlands region to have been able to provide one. It’s just one of the ways that we’re giving back to the community as part of our Thrive Agenda.”

Javed Anjum, CEO of OneBanx said “We are delighted to embark on this partnership with Market Harborough Building Society, in support of their community agenda. OneBanx’ bridges the gap between customers who rely on branches for cash transactions merged with the convenience of digital banking.

“As the original provider of multi-bank, cash transaction services in the UK since 2020, we have already powered substantial volumes of cash for thousands of UK consumers and businesses – and we are constantly innovating to meet the growing needs of UK financial institutions.”

Continuing to support their local community

Our new kiosk is part of our Society’s Thrive! Agenda—a promise to continually stand up for what matters most and help make a difference. Market Harborough Building Society (MHBS) was established with the primary purpose of allowing people in working communities to save and borrow so they could get the home they wanted and support their families. Thrive! is very purposefully aligned with the ambitions of our founders.

Recent projects under the Thrive! Agenda have included significant donations to local foodbanks and a £2.2 million affordable housing programme that has seen seven families in need move into safe, warm new homes in Lutterworth and Market Harborough. We also offer free meeting space to local clubs, groups, and societies at our brand new office at The Point on Rockingham Road.

MHBS has six branches across Leicestershire and Northamptonshire. The new kiosk will be available at our Market Harborough branch on The Square, open from 9:30 am to 3:00 pm Monday to Friday and 9:00 am to 12:00 pm on Saturday.
