Newcombe House Celebrates 1 Year Anniversary
We at Market Harborough Building Society are proud to celebrate the first anniversary of our head office, Newcombe House.
This milestone marks a year of exciting progress—bringing our colleagues together, deepening our community connections, and creating a modern, welcoming space that serves both our team and the wider community.
Last year, we made the bold decision to relocate our colleagues to Newcombe House—a state-of-the-art building designed to foster collaboration and spark meaningful connections. But we didn’t stop there. We also opened our doors to charities, local groups, and clubs, offering them a professional space to host meetings and events.
Our CEO, Iain Kirkpatrick, pledged to make Newcombe House available to the community, helping us strengthen our ties to our local heartland and support its continued growth.

Opening Our Doors to the Community
At the time, we weren’t sure how this initiative would be received—after all, sharing our workspace with community groups was a new concept. But the response has been overwhelmingly positive.
Since launching this initiative, we’ve received a steady stream of enquiries and built a strong network of partners who now visit us regularly. In 2024, we welcomed just over 60 bookings from May to December. For 2025, we already have 260 bookings in the diary—and we expect to welcome over 3,000 visitors this year, compared to around 500 in the first seven months.
More Than Just a Meeting Space
What started as a space for meetings and events has grown into something more. People now use Newcombe House for hot desking, one-on-one sessions, interviews, or simply as a change of scenery from working at home. It’s clear that our space is meeting a real need.
As a mutual organisation, we’re committed to creating lasting, positive change in our communities. We prioritise social purpose over financial returns for shareholders. At Newcombe House, we’ve brought together small businesses, community groups, and charities with shared goals—fostering collaboration and mutual support.
Voices from the Community
Rohini Corfield from Voluntary Action South Leicestershire (VASL), a regular visitor, shared:
“VASL Community Champions has used Newcombe House to host training for our digital volunteers, and for team meetings. We find the facilities excellent and have always enjoyed a warm welcome. We appreciate having access to such a professional working space.”

Looking Ahead: Shaping 2025 Together
Looking ahead to 2025, Tim Neal, our Head of Footprint, said it best:
“I am incredibly proud of how Newcombe House has evolved into a central hub for our community. The positive impact we’ve had on local groups and charities is a testament to our commitment to making a meaningful difference. We look forward to continuing this journey and supporting even more initiatives in the future.”
